We are looking to meet new people—both for ourselves and for our project. We are a very small group of friends who decided to create a game and make new connections. We lack experience and manpower, as we are complete beginners. We would love to meet new people and welcome any help; we work for free and for the sake of the social connection, and we believe in the future. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out—everyone is welcome! Thanks for your time. (Also we all russian)
Yeah, you’re right but i think we aren’t aiming for the cutting edge of the front line—the main thing is not to abandon the project. Based on our current drafts, the game is shaping up to be something of an RPG with unique combat and a compelling story; we had originally intended to make something simple for our first attempt, but this is the direction we’ve ended up taking. Also thanks for attention we’ll be happy to work with anyone even if it w’ll be hard because of language.
Try, to start with, creating an episode with a single quest, a small number of characters, and a limited location.
A unique combat system is great… in theory. Are you sure players will want to figure out your system? Established patterns are popular for a reason.
Do you have a professional writer to create the storyline?
Do you have a good 2D artist? (You’ll need a lot of it.)
Does anyone on your team live in Moscow or nearby? The Higher School of Economics is in Moscow, and they sometimes hold free lectures on gamedev there — they’re very interesting and informative.
Wow, thanks a lot for information. We’ve already doing all this job like episodes, mechanics and other things. We are taking our time and moving forward carefully, our challenges lie in experience and a shortage of manpower—specifically artists, followed by coders… So if you know just where we can find people for out small team, we’ve been so grateful.
What is the game going to be like? Is it going to be more like a Persona style game that takes place in a somehow modern world. Or is it going to be more of a medieval / fantasy game?
There’s also a specialized fan site for the genre our project is based on. I’m an admin there.
If I find the right people, of course I’ll invite them to join my project first. But I’m really curious — if you need artists and programmers, who’s on your team right now?
4 ppl, like one artist, one programmer, one scenarist and me for universal work. The scenarist is new one, I was doing it before him, but since I’m involved in everything, so I’ll continue working with him. We all beginners with almost zero expirence. Or maybe 3 ppl, because of new scenarist is hasn’t made a decision yet.
For some reason, this reminded me of The Witcher… I just want to say that The Witcher is based on a very deep and richly developed world.
Then get ready for several years of work. I still suggest you make a very small but complete and finished game — maybe an episode based on your drafts.
People will come and go — that’s normal (you have to take it in stride).
Yeah we aren’t too worried about the scale of the cast; creating three characters is certainly difficult and time-consuming, but the game’s design isn’t overly complex, and we’ll be releasing it in episodes to make the workflow more manageable for us.
The idea seems viable, but you’ll need to tie the episodes together. And over time, you’ll be able to do more, but you’re limited by the scope of the initial episode. Well, give it a try.
Oh, and one more small note. Adult content could attract additional fans. I haven’t gone down that slippery slope yet, but I’m seriously considering it.
I’m not limiting myself to just one episode; I’ve fully fleshed out Episode 1 and sketched out the story up to Episode 4, though right now we’re working on Episode 1. As for that kind of content… well, it’ll be there to some extent, but not in that specific way—it’s just meant to be visually pleasing at times and make you want to play.
