Final Flavor is a retro dungeon crawler about living in harmony with the dungeon’s ecosystem, learning to subsist from the fantastic fauna and flora together with a party of outcasts for all tastes!

Overall I think it’s a fairly solid game already, with some polishing to do. I think the style is excellent, and very coherent throughout the demo. The basic premise is easy to understand, and it’s a cute take on dungeoneering
I’ve only played one dungeon, but the combat seems interesting enough, with skills that build on each other etc.
What state of development is the game in? I’m wondering if you’re looking for detailed feedback, or if the game is largely locked down at this point.
Hey, thanks for playing the demo! I’m really glad you enjoyed it.
The game is still under heavy development, with a couple of key gameplay features still missing (namely, character progression and mid-dungeon cooking) and basically most of the content to be produced (monsters, skills, ingredients, recipes, etc.). The overall game design is quite settled but definitely far from final, so any feedback is more than welcome.
That sounds great. I don’t mean to say that the game is lacking for where it is, I’m just happy to know that it’s getting the attention it deserves
I’ll (later) note down some of the things I noticed when playing, which mainly have to do with clarity of concepts, and the user experience in general. The core feels quite solid already, though of course I’ve only seen a small part. How many dungeons are implemented currently?
Our current focus is on finishing a “vertical slice” for the game, showcasing just a little of everything the game has to offer. That helps when showing the game to publishers since we still need funding for the project. Most of the game content (which includes new dungeons) will come after we have these core features implemented.
Alright, then I’ve seen pretty much all of the game already
Do you have any particular publisher(s) in mind? I used to be a developer-side producer, so I’ve sat through my share of greenlight meetings with publishers (mainly EA). No experience with smaller publishers though.
I think you’re in a very good place already, not least because the style is strong, which to the average publisher means “marketable”.
We already had meetings with some publishers but talks are still ongoing. Not sure how much we can share at this point, but they are mostly smaller publishers, indeed. That and some indie-friendly funds such as Outersloth, Evil Landfall, Jackbox Publishing, etc, which anyone can pitch to.
That’s very nice to hear. I hope you’re right about that!
I’m not sure about smaller publishers, but in my experience the big ones don’t make games - they make money. Most of the publisher-side producers I’ve talked to have nothing but harebrained ideas and notes from Legal and Marketing… I hope your experience will be different
