Free minimalist placeholder character pack for Godot prototypes and game jams.

I often found myself using plain capsules when prototyping in Godot, but they all looked the same and made gameplay testing harder than it needed to be.

So I made a small free asset pack with four readable placeholder character types:

  • Player

  • Enemy

  • Boss

  • Neutral

The goal was to keep everything simple while making each role instantly recognizable.

If you’re working on a prototype or a game jam project, you might find them useful.

Excellent, and a very useful initiative. I’ve taken the liberty of reducing the ‘boss’ to be under 2m (it’s still bigger than the others…) so as to stay within ‘human’ proportions, and reduced the rather elaborate Material to a simple RGB colour, as that’s enough for any placeholder needs I might have, with a ‘less is more’ attitude. Thanks for sharing. :+1:

Thanks! I’m happy to hear you found it useful. I like your “less is more” approach, and it’s great to see the pack being adapted to different needs.

I’ve just released a small update for the pack!

Version 1.1

  • Fixed the gradient material.

  • Reorganized the material into a single Gradient node group, making it much easier to customize.

  • Added support for different gradient interpolation types.

Thanks again for the feedback! It helped improve the material, and I hope the pack is even more useful now.
