Hi! I’ve been working on GenMap, a Godot 4.3+ editor plugin: you type something like “crypt 40x30 with 6 rooms and 4 chests”, and it paints the dungeon into your TileMapLayer.
The AI runs on your own machine through Ollama (qwen3:8b), so there are no API keys, no costs per map and no internet needed.
The model only designs the layout. GenMap validates it and fixes what LLMs get wrong:
- rooms outside the map get clipped
- isolated rooms get connected (the model left rooms unreachable in ~1 of 6 maps in my tests)
- walls always close the perimeter, with collisions
- everything is undoable with Ctrl+Z
The free Lite version (MIT) is on GitHub: GitHub - Jm7997/genmap-lite · GitHub
There’s also a Pro version with autotiling (Terrain Sets), spawn point and chests, and JSON export so you can generate maps in the editor and load them in your game without Ollama: GenMap Pro by Jaime_7997
I’d love feedback, especially on what kind of maps you’d want next (caves? biomes?).
