I have committed to Godot for serious projects but a curious about Armoury3D or UPBGE.
Has anyone played around with these? And how do they compare with Godot?
As a former user of the old blender game engine, I do like the blender integration.
Armoury is bad, it’s a paid version of upbge.
upbge was and still is an amateur version of the now defunct bge (blender game engine). I was on the project and there were like 3 people doing any actual work on the engine, and they focused on adding features instead of fixing bugs.
bge had serious problems that prevented anyone from making an actual game, nothing got past prototypes. it also lacked graphical features of engines of the time, was tied to the blender code, and was extremely slow (performance wise).
godot is much faster than bge and has many more graphical features, including modern ones, it also has everything you need to make a game, and is not held down by needing to be compatible with a 3D editor.
also gdscript is 50 trillion times faster than python (everything is).
