Hey everyone
I’m working on a 2D survival MMO and I’d really appreciate your feedback!
Any criticism, suggestions, or ideas are welcome — whether it’s about gameplay, mechanics, art, or usability.
Every comment will help me improve the project I’ve been putting a lot of time and effort into. Thanks in advance!
The U.I is decent and I wanna say you should not use any A.I thing such as dialogue and especially image’s like the main menu background and if a player sees a A.I junk in the main menu they obviously thinks that’s a brainrot while your
game actually looks great and nostalgic!
So you should you a good screenshot or the game’s logo in the main menu!
The gameplay looks interesting!
And the category Forum Feedback is for the feedback of forum , change it to In Development
Could a moderator please move this to the appropriate section?
I used AI to create some images, like the menu screen and the like; however, my focus is on implementing the logic, and since I’m working on this project alone I end up relying on AI. The plan is to ask someone to handle the artwork in the future.
You can do it your self!
It’s easy
So far so good!
Your artwork looks consistent and the gameplay looks easy to understand.
I guess we’ll need to see how it looks when you’re surviving against enemies next?
If I was to nitpick, when you enter the safe zone, it feels like the main UI window should be in the centre. But thats probably just my preference more than anything.
I still have things to work on, and the project takes time, since doing so much alone isn’t easy. However, I need to get back to refining the game — I need to improve the enemies’ AI and fine-tune the pathfinder.
No complaints here. You’re doing great.
This looks quite promising! ![]()
In general I would recommend to polish up the things you got for reasons of presentation: when the weather changes, it is very abrupt and gives a bad first impression on the soundscape. You’ve got some great weather sounds there ![]()
Same goes for weapon sounds: the pistol is loud, as it should be, while the AUG can barely be heard.
Do you want to tell us about what your first goal/milestone is? And what will the game be? When you say MMO I think of quests and coop raids. Is it coop or competitive? What is the world like? ![]()
Thanks for the feedback! Let me give you an idea of what I’m working on.
The game will be focused on survival. The map will be divided into level zones — from Lv 1, Lv 10, all the way up to Lv 50. Each zone increases in difficulty, offers better loot, and comes with greater dangers. The map layout will start from Map_N00 and extend horizontally to Map_N30, and so on.
PvP will be mandatory in certain areas of the map, but there will also be an optional PvP system if both players agree.
The game will feature boss raids with rare loot, zombie horde events triggered by gunfire, and full cloud-based progression.
The initial vision is to create a survival-focused experience with an RPG twist — certain items will require level points in specific attributes, and there will be a crafting system (to be added later).
That’s the overall concept I have in mind right now. The end goal is for the game to be competitive, where players aim to outgrow and overpower each other, much like in a classic RPG — but with zombies and a post-apocalyptic atmosphere.
Looks good ! Only one thing: may be color the characters lighter in order to not blend them with the background (especially the street’s tar).
Hi, thx for feedback
The idea is to change a lot of the art later on, after finishing the logic part. I’m thinking of hiring someone to handle all the art/sprites, for now I’m just focusing on the programming.
Guys, there’s an update I made a while ago — I started changing a few things and added a plasma weapon. What do you think?
Menu bg looks sick now!
I would like to play it when I’m maybe so bored of watching shorts and developing odd games!
Guys, here’s an update on my game. I’ve added a PvP system and I’d love some feedback — what do you think could be improved?
I see that the game’s name is dark frontier, but that’s a bit too dark. I can’t see at all what’s going on in either screen there. Contrast is important - try to get the player to not blend in.
In this case, the game has four time periods: day, afternoon, night, and dawn.
Below is the latest video I made — this one is easier to see.
Here, I picked a frame at random and took a screenshot. Sitting up straight at my monitor, I cannot see the player. (I mean, if I stare…)
Compare with my own game, look at the contrast that pops the player off the background.
Looking at my screenshot, you can see things that clearly stand out, and those are what the player needs to see. In that shot, you can see the player, enemies, loot, and bullets. In your shot, everything sort of blends together.
Give the player a lantern and make the bullets glow!
Easy fix : )
Yes, an easy fix, and an even easier fix would be to just put a big (white) outline on the player to make them easier to spot. If the point of the game is to find other players, you can hide that outline for other players.
