You’re supposed to code games during game jams, not before.

I’m in the same Jam! I’m about to submit my game.

The jam ends on the 31st. I don’t know why they said it starts on the 31st. Maybe they meant the rating period starts on the 31? idk.

Hey @jtw789 Just like @dragonforge-dev said, you’re supposed to code games DURING game jams, and not before, and let me tell you, I almost made the exact same mistake like you did, and let me tell you a story about it.

So, two months ago, the Kenney Game Jam 2025 was coming up, and I wanted to make a 2D platform/survival game called “Platform Peril”. Basically, you play as a red character and must move and jump around in a single room while dodging spawning traps, and you must stay in the arena for as long as possible until you die. I was also going to add controller support and local co-op, and was going to make this game entirely in GDevelop, but then I read a few comments saying that I was supposed to start my game when the theme is announced, because then I get a better view on what I want to make, and plus, my idea for my entry was too ambitious for me to make in 2 days, so I left the Kenney Game Jam 2025.

But that also taught me a lesson about scope management, and when the Brackeys Game Jam 2025.2 was happening at the time, I managed to take the faults from Platform Peril, managed my scope better, and made and published my first ever video game made in Godot 4, Owlet and the Biscuit Tower.

And that was the story of how I almost messed up on my soon-to-be first game jam, incorporated the mistakes from Platform Peril and incorporated it into Owlet and the Biscuit Tower, published on itch.io, and ended up on the New & Popular section in Godot games tagged Difficult.

Your story like me so much brother :grin:

I did code it during the game jam. When @Just_popcorn said it started soon, they meant the voting phase started soon.
