I’m Ark, sofware engineer. Last year, when I was in college, I was bored and was killing time with Godot. I was working on creating a Shin Megami Tensei like game using Godot 3, mostly for fun. Maybe I should upload that project on GitHub too.
Then after some time I wanted to try something else. And as I was watching a Pokemon streamer playing a fangame, I thought “hmm, why not remaking a Pokemon game using Godot”.
And so I download the latest version at that time : 4.1.1 and started remaking Pokemon Emerald from scratch. I extracted the textures from the game and started working. As a perfectionist, I tried making pixel perfect copy of the game. Just for the ledge jumping animation, I went analyzing frame by frame the jump in the original game
Unfortunately, with exams and now my job, I can’t continue coding. But maybe someone reading this, or ending on the GitHub repository I just created, will want to continue what I started.
My idea with this project was to create an alternative to romhacking and RPG Maker XP, a complete Pokemon game made with Godot. Usable to make fangames in the future.
I’m available to talk about the project. It was one year ago, but I can still help to understand how to work with it.
