Why did the Godot forum remove this feature?

I don’t really see the point. Anyone can join the forums at any time, and as far as I can tell there are no groups here (aside from moderators), so you could simply just tell someone to make an account or use one of the (many) provided 3rd party logins to do so. But I could be wrong.
Also, based on this resource:
This feature is only for users of trust level 2 and above.
This forum only has trust level 0 and 1.
