Is there a (more or less complete) list of 2D/3D platformer movement options?

I’ve played a bunch of games with platforming mechanics - like Ori and the Blind Forest, Hollow Knight, Mario, Celeste, Lone Fungus, Lego games (many, many…), Jedi Fallen Order, NieR Automata, etc.

And I like Metroidvanias, and I like platforming in general, so I’d like to try and make a game like that myself. To this end, I’d need to figure out a nice, satisfying moveset for such a game. And I thought it would be inspiring to read what other moves people have come up with. Things like double-jumps, wall-jumps, dashes, ground-pounds, gliding, etc.

Has anyone attempted to compile an exhaustive (as much as possible) list of various 2D and 3D platforming moves that have featured in various games?

Lol, no. I am guessing there would be literally hundreds of them.

I found this:

Where there some quite lengthy lists already. I imagine that when you get into the later suggested “movement in shadows”, “dimension hopping” and gravity altering / screen rotating stuff the variations start to become endless.

Still, is interesting seeing all the suggestions, it is certainly thought provoking. I chuckled a little when I read “Not enough games with a fun grappling hook” as I am just starting on a grappling hook (just prototyping some ideas) inspired by @ACF3D:

Good question though. A good clean list could be a great idea generator as well.
