Looking to join a team

Hey looking to join someone’s team on working with a game . Kind of tired of working alone .

I have about 2.5 hours a week to dedicate for 6 months .

my skills are all over the place . I can draw ( SAI , PISKEL ) , program , do blender . I just cant compose music .

Here is my itch game , only have one game I made so far .

I can compose music, and I can program as well. I have room in my schedule to provide music for you after February 18th.

Here’s a game I recently completed: Under Gunstruction by Da Flarf

and here is some of my work: Stream Da Flarf music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud

Wow I listened to some of your music and I like it allot. I wasnt actually anticipating on adding music to any of my games ( funny I just read my own post and realized its confusing ) . My intent was to work with someone on a game from the bottom up . So if you have a game idea and want to work together on something casually send an email mathewjonhawley@gmail.com . We can make a github and slowly build something .

Of if you did want to help me make snakerun thats fine too , but the code is a mess and the project was starting to scare me

good to hear. Last time I tried to work with another dev, he flaked out day 1 of the game jam XD. I still got the project done somehow, so that’s nice. When I’m ready to start making another game, I’ll email you. In the meantime, watch a bunch of optimization tutorials and tutorials about stuff you’re confused about so you can avoid writing spaggheti code

BTW can I have a portfolio of some of your art/code? (scripts, pixel art, hand drawings, blender models). I have another pixel artist I work with sometimes and for my next game I’d love to make a 2.5d aesthetic

Here is my github =/ vrcdrafter (Mat Hawley ) · GitHub so thats something . You can open some of the whole projects and compile them . They all run in Godot 4.4 , dont worry about the Redot thing . Its just another version of godot .

as for art . I dont have any on the internet . Just a picture here or there

gotcha. I just got used to godot 4.3 XD
I’m not the biggest fan of beta-test builds but I’ll still take a look at your projects.

just tried to open “dweems” in godot 4.0. I don’t have blender installed so I can’t import .blend

do you have any 2d only projects? If not I can install blender later

I dont have any 2d projects . Everything I have done is 3d so far. There are some projects that should open up nicely . I just uploaded order 66 simulator so you can try opening that one . Should be complete and everything . GitHub - vrcdrafter/order_66_simulator: a redot game for order 66

Code and graphics look pretty good! I’ve never made a 3d game, so looking at your code taught me a few things even at a first glance. Could be a bit more optimized tho. For the player and the youngling, a node based state machine would have made the whole thing a lot easier.

I used a state machine to handle the complex gun-swapping code in under gunstruction. You can check out the source code here: https://github.com/DaFlarf/godotjam3

Here’s another example of a node based state machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqFbZoA2lnU

Thanx that means allot , yea each game I make it gets more and more organized but im still very attached to the one script does all approach . I have heard of state machines and it seems to break up the logic quite abit into managable chunks . Its a really good idea for when your characters expand . I do actually need to wrap up that game , but its just a goofy demo . So ill get it done later this month .

Just followed you on github in case the mods on godot decide we’re getting too off topic.

I’ll check it out when you complete it!

Hello again. I have a potential project for you to join. I’ll be providing music and backup code. The host is essentially a novice, but with our combined godot experience, it should be a piece of cake.
