Took me years to realize, that there seems a reason why sometimes if you reply to a person, that person isn’t shown at the top of the reply, when it’s the direct following message. I think that’s confusing. I saw more than once that people deleted their posting, thinking they haven’t responded correctly to a person. And at the second try after the deleted post it’s working, bec. it’s not the follow up posting. I can see the idea behind that feature, but IMHO it’s confusing and non intuitive. Could that be changed with a setting in the forum software?
