Hi everyone !
After two years of hard work, my first game will be released on Steam on August 5, 2026.
Of Bricks and Patterns on Steam
My inspiration is Tetris, of course, but I hope you will find the changes I made in its concept interesting.
Here is the trailer :

I put here a few screenshots
Comments are welcome.
Wishlisting it would be a great help.
Thanks for your time !

It’s a fun premise, I like the planning aspect that arises since these pieces don’t disappear
I wasn’t clear on whether there was any advantage to putting colored blocks in their corresponding colored fields.
I think it would be a lot nicer to do movement with a continuous check for move input rather than use 1 key input = 1 move. Otherwise it will have that annoying pause before auto-firing.. and moving the blocks is so central to the game.

Thank you for your opinion, and for trying the demo !
You’re right, I will specify more clearly that putting colored pieces in the same color pattern-part will give a score bonus.
I made this pause before auto-firing move to allow quick, finer piece placement, without the piece moving too quickly. Is this pause so annoying ?
Once this pause is done, move are made with a continuous move input check.
Thanks for your advices !
I’d say so.. maybe a quite short pause would take care of both the tedious wait and the difficulty with finer control? Or something like holding shift to skip the pause.

Currently, the pause longs for 0.2 second, so shorter would be really short ^^
And I thought about the holding shift option, but I don’t know if this would not be too complicated for a casual audience…
