PlayRoot — an open-source game console for Godot games

Hi all,

I’ve just launched PlayRoot, an open-source game console for the Raspberry Pi.

The idea behind PlayRoot is simple: a small, open game console for the TV where the OS and games are free to use. No purchases, no ads, no subscriptions, no paywalls — just free games to enjoy with your friends and family.

Although I’ve mainly focused on building the console OS, I’ve also created four small demo games with Godot. These games aren’t anything amazing, but hopefully they’re enough to demonstrate the potential of the project. And yes, I plan to open-source the games soon as well.

If the project looks interesting, check out the repository:

I’m especially interested in connecting with Godot developers. If you have a free or open-source game you’d like to share, or you’re interested in creating something for PlayRoot, please get in touch!

I’d love to see what the community could create for an open game console. :video_game:
