Random temporary freezes in a game running on Linux+Nvidia GPU

First of all, this is unlikely to be Godot related but I’m hoping someone has seen similar behavior..

This problem only occurs when my game is running in a DIY arcade cabinet (Ubuntu 24.04 x86_64, Nvidia GPU, default proprietary driver). Randomly (sometimes every few minutes, sometimes less frequently) everything freezes for about a second or less and then continues like nothing happened. No errors logged anywhere. I don’t see anything particular happening in game at the time.

I haven’t seen this happen on a Linux PC with Intel GPU or Steam Deck. My older non-godot game running on that same hardware did not have this problem but it was also using an older OS version at that time.

Godot version is 3.6.

Any ideas on what might be the problem or how to debug this?

That’s happened to me too, what gpu and CPU do you have, I have a kinda bad laptop so it may be performance issues

Some Intel Celeron CPU and Geforce GT 1030. The hardware is old but the game in question isn’t really pushing either CPU or GPU to their limits.

idk then, its probably just backround stuff
