I have one complaint about the Poll, something that should probably be fixed. I have double checked the Poll but I could be mistaken about this. Please let me know if this has already changed or if I just missed another location. The diversity of possible locations for Godot Con in North America is pretty limited. There is a whole west coast to consider.
For example this is a screenshot that contains the three NA locations listed.
As an example, if a person were to fly New York to Boston is, maybe, an hour. To fly from anywhere on the West Coast would take over 6 hours to fly to any of those suggested locations.
One could argue that the selection in most regions is limited; there are no locations from Africa, Australia, West Asia, and Central America. That the cities chosen for North America are all on the east coast could be because of different reasons, for example to make GodotCon easier for most attendants to get to (only 40% of all Godot users are from North America and even less live on the west coast) or because of organisational reasons.
Then this should be an open question with limited suggestions. Leave Other open and allow users to suggest a location.
If someone is able to make the trip from Europe to New York then they are likely able to make the trip to Austin, TX from Europe. However, for someone in the Western NA, if they cannot make the trip to New York, then they are likely unable to make the trip to Boston or Montreal, because the value is roughly the same. However, making the trip to a central location, such as Texas or Winnipeg. I assume the point of the conference is to attract people that might not make the effort otherwise.
My argument is that the three options are not really all that different and provide no real choice. If someone cannot, or will not, make the trip to go to New York then they are no more likely to go to Boston or Montreal.
Personally I wouldn’t want to travel to North America these days. It’s just too dangerous, if you can get denied entry just because you have a funny JD Vance meme on your phone.
