New explainer video out today!

Today I’m proud to announce the newest addition to our explainer playlist!

It’s all about the latest 2.34 feature: Inkscape Sync!

What’s even cooler…

This video was recorded and narrated by our fresh collaborator, Flechette, who requested the issue, contributed code and gave great insights on how it should work.

Nerding out!

For instance, without her I would have been breaking my brain to this day about how Inkscape sets its group pivots:

  1. take the global image scale
  2. draw a bounding rects around all the shapes in the group at that scale
  3. calculate the center of that bounding rect
  4. subtract the inkscape:transform-center-x and inkscape:transform-center-y attribute from there

Who knew? :person_shrugging:

The video!

So without further ado, I am super proud to present:

Release 2.35.0 - Snap to Grid

Today I finally managed to integrate godot’s own grid snapping in release 2.35! Special thanks go out to:

  • DigitalDesignDex for requesting the feature which motivated me to find help and do the research
  • @mrcdk for pointing me to the right place and providing code examples in this answer
  • @ximossi to suggest the stroke extrusion released earlier, which plays nicely with the snap

It’s out now on github

And coming soon to the asset store and ye olde asset library
