Should I REALLY use Godot 4 to create a small, multiplayer, third-person, arena shooter in 3D? (Serious Question)

It (The AI image) looks WAY too much like subway surfers

You’re right it does! That was just me being silly really, and although I do not use AI art directly, it is often a good source for inspiration.

But I do like the name Banana Bandits!

Personally I am really looking forward to trying to do a multiplayer game in the future like @Demetrius_Dixon is doing with his Monkanics idea, but I suspect the multiplayer bits would be beyond me.

@pauldrewett I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it. I took me MONTHS just to grasp Godot’s API. Let alone the raw nitty-gritty of network programming.

Even still, I’m not a master, just learning as I go.

Sorry for responding to this year-old thread, however, I found it while scrolling through your devlog for your proposed video game’s blog. I just wanted to say that I am in a similar boat as you, as I have a top-down RPG some undergraduate friends of mine and I have been sitting on from version 4.3 and doing nothing with, as I intend on going through graduate school for another year or two to get my second master’s degree and potentially a second and/or third graduate certificate, and the remainder of them are focused on graduation, jobs, careers, life responsibilities, etc. I just wanted to say that I understand where you’re coming from, as my dream and goal with Godot Engine is to one day develop a collectathon 3D platformer much like the Spyro series, they Ty the Tasmanian Tiger series, Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom, Spongebob: The Movie (the video game), etc. I will be watching development of your project with much anticipation!

I know, I didn’t intend to revive this thread, as it’s literally a year old.

Those are old socials I deleted to have a fresh start, now that I know how to manage my time.

The thread with current information is right here:
