Why can’t .zip files (which may contain Godot projects) and useful and completely harmless .ogg files be uploaded to the forum?
Nothing “OK” about it.

big files, could be virus executables. I would argue most problems can be adequitely described without sending everything. If it was encouraged or normal to send the entire project with every topic I would quickly stop helping, it’s much more work on the responder’s part, and it’s an attack vector as Godloader demonstrates.
.ogg
should be added, though I see just-audio files being used significantly less than video files.
In this case, we are talking about a 14KB file. Some wise administrators know the secret of how to set a file size limit on the forums (but this is probably sacred knowledge). It is not quite clear why you can “store” .png, .mp4 files that are not small.
By the way, the “hint” on the forum didn’t link to this post when I posted mine.
The most basic problem is that the zip file on the server is considered insecure and there is no suitable option to check for its threats.
Although we need this feature, it is not possible, And, of course, there is still no alternative that does not include the same current inconsistencies.
It is possible to build a script that collects all the files needed for a project into a custom file and vice versa, but the output file size will be too large, the current structure of the main components of Godot projects does not allow the use of a single file (and this is also a highly unstable feature) so this seems like one of those problems that we have to deal with!
For large projects — yeah, you can use other ways. But the project may be very small or just need to send a small missing file that is not on the very limited list of allowed formats.
Many antiviruses can check archives.
Compliance with rules and policies - Many forums have a ban on uploading ZIP files in their rules due to security reasons.
it’s a security rule, anything that is wrapped in a zip file even if it’s just a byte is a potential risk
and what exactly do you mean by a small missing file ? a file from the godot project?
Well, I have to say it’s really limited, but that’s because it’s made purely to explain problems and questions. But maybe we can save the files in a fixed format at once, this will be safe from a security point of view (if the forum has a pretty good security system) and if it is added to the allowed formats, the problem will be solved
It would be a good project, even if it doesn’t work in the forum, it’s really cool to archive old projects in one file (Of course, if it has a specific format for all types of project files, not a zip file)
In this case, yeah. A folder was deleted from the project and only one .ogg file needed to be added.
That’s odd. Apparently I use mostly unpopular forums, as I’ve rarely encountered such a restriction until now.
