We seriously need to ban all discussions about AI on this forum

I don’t think I need to explain myself much.

Every time AI is brought up in ANY topic, an argument starts, and it NEVER ends.

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Without fail.

We’ve got to stop these topics from appearing and spiraling.

But… but why? How else would I know how to make my NPCs work! Coding AI is hard work, you gotta think of all the different paths they can take, what phases different bosses would have and how you’d code those in using a hierarchical state machine, how your AI would interact with the player in different scenarios…

…oh wait, we don’t call that AI AI anymore do we… :frowning:

((its a joke pls dont ban me))

When is war , shall we talk about peace or war :hollow_red_circle:.

Any updates on here ?

Nothing at all. Imo the Godot forums need more moderators. Moderation actions take way too long, even when something is obviously wrong.

@Demetrius_Dixon @tibaverus @iOSxcOder we need backup!

situation isn’t right!
flag this topic!

(Getting flagged by too many users will auto hide it)

You have the option to stop following the argument.

The topic itself breaks no rules and there’s nothing wrong with it imo. It’s the comments that got out of hand a little bit.

What’s wrong with having arguments? It’s part of the point of having a forum.
As long as the argument is civil and people don’t insult each other, it’s fine. If you find the topic annoying, just ignore it.

I just skimmed the last one or two hundred comments in the “Is the AI bubble about to burst” thread, and it seems to me the problem is with the commenters, not the subject matter. Besides, arguments mean that people disagree, meaning there is reason to discuss.

The fact is that generative AI is still pretty new, and people have a need to discuss it, to better understand it, and come to some consensus - is it evil? Do users automatically hate assets made with AI, or does the end user even notice? Will I be expected to work with AI in my (perhaps future) professional life in the games industry? By using it, am I supporting a technology that will cost countless people their jobs? And so on.

In my view, it’s a healthy discussion, so long as it doesn’t interfere with what this forum is really about - Godot. That, and that it’s discussed constructively - as with any topic.

Fair enough. I just felt very annoyed at the time. So I’ll leave it at that.

Yeah I mean I have been a participant to varying degrees in some of these debates but as long as they stay debates it’s fine. Debates arent conflict. Debates are just two people of different opinions trying to convince the other. If it becomes an argument it has to stop cause at that point there is malice and anger involved.
