I just turned on “Local Space” in the editor and didn’t knew how (I hit T, unintended). Google brought me to a post that provides a wrong (or inconvenient) answer and was closed as solved:
I found the shortcut in the Godot settings after I found this post, and just wanted to provide it for future users that find it.
I have had similar experience with other old threads on this board before. Today I made an account just to ask: Whats the best way here to fix/help here?
If said post was closed, then it’s very likely that the original posted had a slightly different issue than what you’re currently having. Having that as the marked solution is not a bad thing, since others might find that solution to be the correct one. I don’t think there’s much you can do to be honest.
I’m the person who provided the allegedly “wrong” answer in the original post, so I feel obliged to answer here as well
While turning off “Local Space” would solve the problem in a 3D setting indeed, there is no equivalent in a 2D setting. The OP’s question was about the 2D game.
Even in a 3D setting, a solution with turning off “Local Space” might not be the most convenient, because you’d have to do that every time you want to rotate the whole structure and you have no control over the specific pivot point, whereas my provided solution would be a “setup once and forget” thing.
Still, I believe it’s a good addition to the original post, so I edited my answer to include 2 alternative ways to achieve this effect.
In general, as you noticed, there is no way to add replies to a closed topic, but as others suggested - you can just create your own topic with the problem and a solution, linking to the original post. Every link to the original post will also appear on the original post, so if people are doing a more thorough research, might find your new post as well. Not perfect, but at least something.
