“Maybe consider some more tags that could be added giving the moderation a full tag suit to greatly improve the forum functionality!”
Since i did not want to create a new topic, however my content was hidden because it is off topic, so it is perhaps the best to just do the right thing and open a new Topic:
I think the forum would greatly benefit from getting a new shiny tag system with different tags from all areas!
Those are already covered by the categories though? “Help wanted” is just “help”, “showcase” is just “showcase”
Not really sure what “discussion” and “question” would add, and what kind of suggestions? For forum things there’s a category for that, and for suggestions for Godot that should be discussed in the godot proposals repository
How is “question” a useful thing to search for though? In what way would someone be looking for “questions” in general? Instead of discussions or people asking for help? In what way would that make it more searchable?
I don’t search for anything, on a daily basis. My browser shows me all posts that I haven’t already read, and I read them all. Some topics are more interesting than others; I can ‘bookmark’ those.
Other than that, ‘Control F’ (on a PC…) will search any text at all.
I would humbly suggest leaving things as they are, as, for most of the Forum members, it all seems to work quite well enough. If I had a vote, I’d vote ‘Status Quo’.
I did use abstract examples, let me try to express this a bit more understandable by giving concrete examples, now if you say those things could have a category instead yes that would be right but i think tags would work better because they are more organized here is an example tag:
Here are some more to the point suggestions for tags and antitags, that have the goal to give the ability to filter out content you rather not want to see because you would want to deal more on a day to day base with godot instead of discussing stuff, or quite the opposite:
Heated ( Topics with a Heated discussion can be filtered in or out )
Political ( Topics with a Political oriented discussion can be filtered in or out )
Offtopic ( Topics dont quite fully belong to the godotengine core discussion can be filtered in or out )
Is the breaking of rsync off topic too then? Just to name a dangerous new development.
This stuff touches everything:
What I mean is: who’s to judge what is on topic? So many Godot gamedevs have panicked on reddit and on here because they did not know about proper backups or proper version control.
Funny topic its real fun watching the big companys rehiring all the old stuff after two years when they found out how ai broke all apps because the bosses just have no idea what an ai really is.
I would love to discuss it in a seperate topic but i would also give it the tag offtopic but not imply that it is unrelated to godot ( or say it cannot be discussed ) however i have no idea how mods would judge that.
