Yeah, this is a thing with flipped images.you can notice it with photographs of people you know pretty easily too. It makes things look unfamiliar or uncanny.
As for your pixel art I think the perception of depth changes when it’s flipped based on the symmetry you have setup. If you look at the gap between the eyes, in the unflipped version, the character is looking more to the side where as in the flipped version the split almost seems centered? I might be seeing it this way because of the negative space only being on the left of the face. It’s funny how a few dots can make such a difference with how an image is perceived.

Oh interesting… but is there a way to fix it? (You can choose to not answer) see here:

That’s fullbody, and the face still bothers me, and if i keep staring at it then i might just get used to the weird face, i want to finish the face already.
Hi!
The flipped result looks perfectly normal to me, from a technical point of view: it’s flipped the way it should be. As @BrutalDevon said, the character’s face is not symmetrical although it seems to be looking to face us, which results in a difference when flipped (as one eye gets bigger than the other, and the direction the characters looks changes as well).
Nobody’s face is perfectly symmetrical, but in pixel art, it can.
One thing you could do is either make the face perfectly symmetrical, like these:
Or, if you want to keep the character a bit rotated, make it more obvious, like these:
Anyway, since that’s an art issue, there is no ready-to-use solution we can provide, as it depends on what you want for your art direction, and what looks good to you. But I hope it helped understanding what may your character looks weird to you.
Hi! I changed the eye direction, but i didn’t make the eyes the same width, why? I’m trying making it look more 3 dimensional, and i just do prefer it that way. And anyways how does this looks to you?:

And yes i’m an artist, i’m just not great with pixel art because of how limited it is:)
I don’t know what to tell you, the original one looked okay to me, this new version too. Again, as it’s an art related question, any answer would be very subjective, so you should go with what looks good to you, imho.
Cool looking character!
In my opinion, you’re creating the depth you want with the shading you did around the neck and body so with the eyes, they can be flat and it won’t take away from that illusion. Like sixrobin suggested, you may be better off having the character look more to the side than in the middle ground.
To me the large eye the one that is closer to the camera/viewer. Because the further away on object is from your eye, the smaller it is. So with that in mind, I’d suggest moving your white 2x4 rectangle over one pixel, so that it’s looking more to the far side of the screen and moving the 1x4 eye back to that far edge as well.
I also thought you’re character did look cool in the original full body pic. Maybe it’s time to move on to another character and then come back to this one. The more pixel art you make, the better you’ll get. Maybe after a month or so you’ll come back and see the solution you want to make.
