Chaos run - my first original game

Chaos run is a small game I made with Godot. It’s a side-scrolling runner game where you must avoid or get rid of enemies and obstacles. For each one there is only one way to counter. It’s the chaotic child of a memory game and a game based on reflexes.

The normal mode should be easy to beat in a few attempts and the game is very short, around 3 minutes. Once you beat normal, you unlock hard and nightmare, and, to be honest, I haven’t beaten those yet. But I’d love to hear that someone did it.

The game can be played in your browser on itch: Chaos run by Kuruad

Neatly done. My short term memory is bad. After about 5 types of obstacles I cannot keep up any more.

You have a bug. When the “select key” window appears, if you click outside of that popup window the game will act as if you chose a key even though you didn’t.

Also, one annoy thing I see in too many games. If the gameplay is controlled exclusively via the keyboard, don’t require mouse clicking to start the game. Keep all of the interaction on the keyboard and let the game be started by pressing a key.

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll fix the bug. Also, you’re right about the keyboard, I’ll check that too.

5 obstacles in normal or hard mode?

Normal mode.

The click bug has been fixed, and I added keyboard navigation.

In normal mode the trick is to switch to long term memory, after a few attempts using the same keys, you will be able to memorize them, there are only 7 obstacles. Hard mode is… something else.

Its an interesting idea certainly. I love the throwing of a mouse and chasing away the elephants!
Very nice first game!
