Click and place objects in scene editor?

Question

When making a 2d map the click and drag object/scene can get really tidious with a lot of nodes present. I don’t want to take make my objects as a tilemap, as that would mean loosing a lot of information built into those object. A tool that would allow selecting an object in filesystem and then placing it by clicking on the main scene would be a blessing.
Is there already such a tool built in or avaliable online. If not how would I create one myself?

I’ve not tested them but there are a bunch of plugins that do that like: Instance Dock - Godot Asset Library or Scene Palette - Godot Asset Library
