Hi everyone!
I’ve been working on Deadly Decibels, a 2D top-down arcade survival shooter, inspired by 80s-90s arcade shooters. I just released a new update I’m excited to share.
The core hook: noise is both your enemy and your best friend. Every shot you fire raises a noise meter — the higher it climbs, the more zombies come running. But push that meter to the max and you get rewarded with a score multiplier combo, turning chaos into your biggest scoring opportunity. It’s a constant risk/reward balance: stay quiet to survive, or go loud and chase a high score while getting swarmed.
What’s in the game so far:
- 3 weapons for now (baseball bat, rifle, SMG), each with a different noise footprint — more coming later
- Random loot drops: ammo, health, and armor, plus weapons themselves drop randomly around the map
- A risk/reward noise & combo system driving the core loop
- A way to reach safety once you’ve proven yourself — the gates won’t open for just anyone though

- Pixel art visuals with a moody, atmospheric tone
What’s new in this update:
I just added an online leaderboard powered by SilentWolf — save your score, survival time, and kill count, and see how you rank against other players after each run.
The game is currently in alpha and completely free on itch.io
Would love to hear your feedback, especially on the noise/combo balance — this is still very much a work in progress!
