I remember my early days as a dev, when I was just learning to code and couldn’t draw at all. I used to grab assets from sites like this, but I always faced same problem: whenever I wanted to add something new or follow a burst of creativity, the asset pack never had what I needed. Then I’d try to find something in a similar style and pixel density so it matched - but that was super rare. Sad.
It actually took me about a year to learn how to draw my own stuff.
That’s why I feel like the asset-pack business mostly relies on beginners who are willing to pay maybe $10 for a pack, or a bit more, since they don’t have an artist friend or the money to hire one. Or am I wrong, and there are cases where selling graphic assets has actually made serious money?
Oh, this is difficult and interesting topic with lots of nuances.
Hiring an artist online usually costs around $10–20 per single illustration. But i think you agree that’s not enough to cover a full game.
We offer about 2000 assets, which let you build complete games right after purchase. The cost is under $50 for access to the entire library.
It’s much easier to add 1–2 missing elements yourself than to draw everything from scratch.
For those who want more uniqueness, it’s convenient to take the basics from us (icons, menus, backgrounds, etc.), and then add the main visuals (like important characters or objects) on their own.
To understand market you can check how many games on itch for example:)
