Made a tiny canvas_item shader for trailer / store-page title cards and figured I’d share it. It does animated film grain, a soft vignette, a subtle red/blue edge fringe, and has a flash uniform you can tween on beat cuts.
Quick setup
- Add a ColorRect behind your title Label (full rect).
- Give it a ShaderMaterial with the shader below.
- Tween
flash0 → 1 → 0 (about 0.15s) on each cut:
var t := create_tween()
t.tween_property($ColorRect.material, "shader_parameter/flash", 1.0, 0.05)
t.tween_property($ColorRect.material, "shader_parameter/flash", 0.0, 0.12)
Tune grain_amount (0.12–0.25 reads as film), vignette_strength, chroma_nudge (keep it low, 1–3, or it looks broken), and grain_speed.
