Nice one! I got mesmerised by it for far too long ![]()
Thanks for that link. I have a site to build in the nearish future that I am going to copy that if I can work it out, but now knowing the authors link I can perhaps use their freelance service instead. It is genuinely such a beautiful thing.
@Petey
So did I. I have come back to look at it a few times now. It really is amazingly good!
I really like Godot and the choices being made about way it is being designed and built. I upgraded my current project to 4.6 I like the upgrade path with the single executable and my fairly simple project upgraded flawlessly. The editor appearance improvements are good. I have not yet encountered any deeper changes than that but they all sound good.
I do want to raise a flag that the switch from 4.5.1 β 4.6 has introduced a noticeable typing lag while editing .gd files. I am working on a laptop with an intel i9 processor and enough memory. I am on Win 11. I have a number of things running at the same time but the Task manager tells me that I am at 46% memory usage and CPU utilization under 10% when I am not typing. The Godot Engine itself is using 0% CPU when I am not actively writing code but that jumps to about 6% while typing. Each character I type takes something close to a second to appear on the screen. Multiple character seem to batch so the screen update seems to remain only about a second behind. pasting strings of 100 characters takes slightly over a second to appear. My project consists of a single root scene derived from a User Interface Control Node. I am implementing Sudoku as my first project in Godot.
This is not a critical problem but it might be enough of an annoyance for me to revert back to 4.5 until it goes away.
I recommend logging this as a bug here. This isnβt a feedback thread, and thatβs an important thing for the people working on the engine to know.
I rebooted windows and it got better for a little while. I will move this to bugs.
I love the new Theme(i had it for 4.5 but now it is as standart)!![]()
