Question
It worked perfectly until yesterday
I can click on the shortcut and it shows my projects. I click on a project(doesn’t mater which one) and the project manager closes, but the project doesn’t open.
If I repeat this a few times the project will eventually open.
But when I’m in said project there’s the same problem with running a scene. I click on “run current scene” or “run project” and nothing happens. In the output it just says that the debugging process stopped, and the pause and stop running project buttons will briefly light up, but nothing happens.
If I repeat this a few times then it’ll eventually open.
So it works…technically. Takes forever to work like this though.
I tried googling and I couldn’t find a solution. I’ve tried fiddling with the command prompts(changing default, opening via command prompt etc) and nothing happens. I’ve made sure windows and my drivers are up to date. I’ve changed which GPU it runs on. I’ve seen suggestions that it might be to a corrupt project, but as I said, this is a problem for all projects in godot, even the ones I haven’t touched in months.
As I’m not even getting any errors so it’s difficult to say what’s happening.
Godot 3.5.3 works like normal.

Are you running any kind of security software? eg bit9
Regular I think.
Task manager shows nothing special beyond the application closing when it’s closing.
Windows are up to date.
The only type of security software/antivirus I use is Microsoft defender

Okay, that might actually show something. Looks like I didn’t check the cmd thoroughly enough even if I thought I did.
This is a warning I get in 4.2.1, 4.2.2. The last thing that shows up when it closes itself. If I’m allowed to continue and open the project then the warning is still there if I scroll up.
This were shown when I opened completely new and empty projects made for the specific godot version I was using at the time.

3.5.4 doesn’t get anything similar.
So looks like…something is missing in a json file? In windows app? I honestly don’t know.
Well, can you show the logs when it does open, thats the weird part
Vulkan and D3D is GFX rendering related, so if it’s having an issue with those it maybe falling back to openGL or something. Check that you’ve got the latest drivers for your graphics card, and run dxdiag. If you’ve got all the windows updates you should have the latest DirectX already.
Do you have any other 3d apps like Blender, and are they working OK?
It just continues like normal I think, unless there’s something strange here I can’t spot. I’m not often in the --verbose cmd so I don’t know what’s “normal” lol.

Okay, I’ll continue checking out my drivers, I was sure it’s up to date but I’ll try reverting to previous versions etc and see how it works out. Thanks for the suggestions.
Blender is working fine
Yeah I seem to remember drivers are now optional updates so you have to actually select them.
What did DxDiag say?
Okay I fixed it I think.
The problem was with my drivers…But not the way I expected.
I have both Geforce and AMD, but I always thought I used GeForce for everything. Then I checked my AMD drivers app and got an error message that “Windows Update may have automatically replace your AMD graphics drivers.”.
So I went and downloaded new ones. (I even had to turn off windows defender during it because apparently windows really really hate AMD).
Downloaded, went to open Godot. Everything worked like normal.
Now I just have to be careful that Windows doesn’t replace it again. This probably makes more sense if you know more about computer drivers, GPU, processors and stuff, which I don’t. I’m just happy it works.
The fact that it suddenly happened one day may be because of a windows update? I don’t pay any attention when it updates.
