Help Category Sticky Page

I have been scrolling through the help category, and I feel a sticky (pinned) page could be helpful. Something simple, including things like:

  1. How to get the best help/be the most helpful (pasting code, errors, scene trees, etc.)
  2. How to format code in a post
  3. Explanations of the buttons in the post text editor top bar (quote, block quote, link, preformatted text)
  4. Where to find system version information
  5. How to mark a post as solution
  6. Expected vs actual result
  7. A link to the documentation
  8. A simple greeting

I think this would be helpful, as the help category is (as far as I know) the largest category here, and new users often don’t know how to be the most useful to those helping them. This creates posts with very little information that people can’t help as they don’t have enough information.

Examples of posts with very little information in the base post or unformatted code:

  1. Problem with physics interpolation
  2. Why my code is not working?
  3. Door dont open ;(

Any more ideas are welcome! Thanks!

I see this a lot too. My tactic, if I have the energy, is to ask for more info or give them advice on formatting code. Even if I don’t ultimately answer myself, someone else may be able to pick up the slack. Otherwise I let them fall to the wayside.

I think your idea would be nice if the forum could actively recognize code being added and provide a hint to format it. I think it is lack of understanding the UI glyphs of the text input maybe also add a dedicated code glyph. (It seems to be missing on mobile)

Maybe a gamified tutorial to go through most useful features of the forum when you join.

Maybe more verbose templates for help topics that prompt more info.

GDQuest had a good video about getting your questions answered on the forum. That could be used as a tool.
