How to let camera track a node

i tried to add a camera node as a child node of a character2D node and I thought that will let the camera keep tracking on the character2D node. However it seems the camera only tracks it when the program starts and the camera does not move anymore when i move the character later.

Just lock the camera in. This is done at the top row, right under where you select the scenes, through the lock. You could also group the two nodes through the symbol right next to the lock.
That way, only the main Node can move and every other node attached will move along
