Hello! I’m currently working as an animator, but I’m very interested in game development. This is the first one I’ve made, with very little programming experience, but I really enjoyed working on it and I hope you like it too!
I had many more ideas, and I would have liked to achieve better results, but unfortunately, I’ve reached my limits in this project for now. However, I’ve learned a lot, and can’t wait to continue improving in the future!
I like the concept of the happy memory collectibles causing darkness to fade away. I’d like to see it as the basis for a metaphorical journey, through various environments and challenges representing the life and struggles of the character.
I’m imagining scenes representing good times with lots of collectibles, and bad times with very few or none - forcing you to push forward through darkness until you can find another.
Other things could stand in for the collectibles as well: running and leaping through open spaces and interesting enviornments could provide light, or another character could come into the story to run with you for a while. Their presence could provide light and negate the need for the collectibles, until they (for whatever reason) leave the story and you’re left to continue in darkness until you can find your own light again.
I’m intersted to know, what are you working on next?
Thank you, all of these are great ideas. I don’t rule out the possibility of developing it further one day, and if I do, I would definitely take it in this direction. It’s hard to define my next project; I would like to work with 3D again because it has been a bit neglected lately, but I would also gladly make similar simple games in the relaxation category. The idea of sometimes escaping the “rat race” and stressful daily chores really appeals to me.
How long have you been animating? How did you feel about the verious animation systems in godot? I’m really enjoying AnimationTree coming from unreal engine 4
Hi! I started learning animation about 8 years ago and have been working in the industry in 2D. This was interrupted for around 4 years when I mainly focused on 3D and concept art, but I returned to it over a year ago, primarily working in 3D animation now.
So far, I’m enjoying what Godot offers, it’s easy to understand and efficient. Before this, I spent time working with Unreal Engine’s animation systems, and while I still feel there are some gaps, it worked out really fine. For 3D, I’m currently animating in Blender, and trying to integrate from there (though I still have a lot to learn, as I’m trying it for the first time). Your works maybe available somewhere online? I’d be glad to check them out!
Super cool, I come from unreal 4 and also love making hand drawn animations so I find godot to be the easiest fit, hope to see more of your progress soon. Keep up the good work
