That’s what the title of the post is saying after all ^^
At the worst you could mount the tablet filesystem on a PC and use git via the PC…
I have already provided OP the link to the appropriate section of the Godot documentation, essentially answering their question, but I think they overall don’t understand how git works, which was not the point of the post anymore, and a new one should be made imo.
Oof… Well… TBH I think that’s going to be pretty painful… But ok. You need an android “git client”. A quick glance at Play Store turned up this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viscouspot.gitsync
There’s probably others too and I’ve no idea how good this one is. The github app won’t have this functionality - it will just have issues 'n stuff.
Github (and gitlab, bitbucket, etc) is a separate thing built around git. It is not git itself.
Termux doesn’t work, google play store doesn’t allow me to use it because “this app won’t work with your device” and i’m not using a super old phone, it’s a phone released on 2018.
I know that git is a popular version control system and that it uses a data base called repository and see who has made changes, and when and why? With a version control system, we can track our history and work together, In a version control system there are 2 categories, centralized and distributed, (i dont really know what centralized and distributed is) but i think with centralized.. you use wifi to connect? And when there’s no connection you’re just done, and with distributed, you don’t share with wifi? Why use git, open source, fast, scalable. That’s pretty much all i know about git, and i know Github is using git and is not git, and of course.. i’m not experienced with all these version control stuff, i’m a beginner, of course i’m not used to these, so i might just go back to duplicating my game’s folder to make it act like versions:/
A phone released sometime in 2018 is considered incredibly outdated.
Uh… bad luck for me.. i guess i won’t use git on a phone and will use it when i transfer to a PC or laptop. Thanks for everyone’s help on the post! Please abandon this post.
You can try to find another git client app on play store. I’m sure there must be some that support older phones.
As for “centralized” vs “decentralized” - don’t worry about it. That’s only interesting if you want to learn history at this point.
P.S. What device are you using? If it’s literally a phone, I think that using it for game development will be quite… challenging. Possible, sure, but not easy.
It’s a Galaxy Note 9 or 10… it has a stylus.
