I’m Lourenço based in France, and for roughly the last six months I’ve been teaching myself Godot on the side.
JARNAC is the project that came out of it, and I wanted to share it with the community that I’ve been quietly leaning on (docs, forum threads, …) the whole way through.
JARNAC is an online multiplayer version of the classic French word game of the same name - think Scrabble’s smarter
Two players, a shared dictionary (English & French), a steal mechanic that gives the game its name, and a real-time match.
Six months ago I had never written a line of GDScript. Godot made the on-ramp genuinely approachable, and I’d recommend it without hesitation to anyone sitting on a side-project idea and wondering if the engine is up to it. It is.
The project is now on Kickstarter enough to cover server hosting for the first 12 months plus platform fees.
If JARNAC sounds like something you’d play, or if you just want to support a small Godot project finding its feet, I’d be genuinely grateful for a backing, a share, or even just a comment here.
Feedback from other Godot devs is some of the most useful I can get.
Hello, Google requires 12 opted-in testers running the app for 14 consecutive days before I can promote to production, so I’m reaching out to the community for help.
What it is:
Real-time 1v1 word game (letter racks, steals, draw-or-exchange mechanic)
Dedicated server backend, also written in Godot
English and French dictionaries supported
Android-only for now
What I need from you:
An Android device
A Google account email to add to the closed-testing list
Install the app and open it at least a few times over the 14-day window; even short sessions count
Bug reports / feedback very welcome
How to join:
Reply here or DM me your Google account email (the one tied to the Play Store on your device)
I’ll add you to the tester list and send the opt-in link + install link
Or join the beta testers group:
If you’re in the same boat with your own Godot game, drop a link; happy to test back.
OP needs to have 12 testers that are “opted in” to the testing program. They’ll be automatically removed from that program if they don’t open the game once in a while during that 14-day period.
