Nexora - an Roblox Alternative - "Nexora 0.1.2 v."

My goal is to make people have fun at NEXORA, and also to make nexora something more than a alternative or clone. Also im using the old roblox logo style not the new one

I believe Roblox won’t count that. The old logo hasn’t entered the public domain yet.

In what way, exactly? What do you offer that isn’t in the original? Why should players switch to your version?

Cuz i won’t delete updates that people liked or force dynamic faces on players, they get they’re freedom on customization. Or I wont make nexora way more realistic.

My advice ultimately is: take inspiration from other projects but don’t try to make “a Roblox” or “a Minecraft”, even if you don’t present it or market it that way (like you’re doing here) it is always going to be derivative if your approach is to make something like something else

I will be working on other games too, but nexora TOO, so yea i guess thanks for advice. . . but i will continue on making NEXORA

I don’t think you understand what I mean, I’m not telling you to make something else, I’m saying that if you frame this as “a Roblox alternative” it’s going to be judged based on Roblox, and how you develop it depends a lot on how you think about it

I think i know what im doing.

Are you confident that what you’re offering will allow you to attract enough players? Have you conducted any research on this subject?

Once you fully launch your project, you’ll realize that all these changes are rationally justified.

I understand your point. I haven’t done large-scale research yet, so I can’t claim I already know how many players Nexora will attract. I’m starting with a small public release and I’ll use actual player feedback, retention, and testing to see what works.

As for the changes, I understand that some decisions can be necessary when running a large platform. My goal isn’t to say every change Roblox made is irrational — I want to see if I can build a different approach that players actually prefer. If something doesn’t work, I’ll adjust it based on evidence.

They may be rationally justified to some extent, if you ignore the bigger picture, but Roblox has just been going down into a pile of flames for multiple years now. They are forcing ai integration into everything. They are age restricting everything where you either have to sell your face, ID, or not be able to talk and play half the games on there. They are destroying most of the ways you customize your avatar and giving people new tools to make bad things with, those things they are using to justify everything they’re doing even though half of these things just make it easier for them. Not to mention how they’ve absolutely killed the platform for small devs, from removing premium payouts to requiring ID and 500 ‘engaged’ players (people who spend money) to get your game published to people not verified or under 16. All of these changes are why I quit Roblox and switched from developing on Roblox to Godot. I would absolutely play a Roblox alternative. Though for this one it definitely needs more showcasing of it’s features and what it allows, and from what I just read it still seems to be in a half-finished state mostly.

That’s interesting. I’m not really familiar with it. All I know about Roblox is that it was blocked in Russia. A lot of things are blocked in Russia: YouTube, Telegram, GitHub… But the blocking of Roblox sparked an unusually strong wave of discontent — so much so that they reversed the decision. And this is the only case of its kind. The Russian government never gives in to pressure (well, at least that’s what it claims), especially from its own citizens.

Hmm.. Intresting but the question is will Roblox still be available in 2027

Yeah, I actually agree with a lot of what you said. Nexora is still early, so I know it isn’t anywhere near a finished alternative yet. My main goal isn’t to just copy Roblox or complain about their decisions, but to build a platform around the things I think players and developers are missing.

I definitely need to showcase Nexora’s features more and make it clearer what makes it different. I’m still working on the foundation right now, especially multiplayer, accounts, and the overall platform, so there’s a lot more planned than what’s currently visible.

And honestly, hearing that you’d actually play a Roblox alternative is exactly the kind of feedback I wanted. Thanks.

Thanks and uh I will think for currency later after release for players, but thanks for the idea!

No problem!

This may be due to new global requirements. Many countries require companies under their jurisdiction to verify players’ ages. So, this may not be a choice on the part of the developers, but rather a necessary decision. And if this game gains popularity — if a significant number of players register — then the same requirements may be imposed on it as well. There are many challenges ahead — for example, in Russia there is a requirement to store data on Russian citizens only within the country’s borders. In other words, if your game has Russian players, the law requires you to set up a server in Russia — where you would store the data of Russian players. There are a lot of crazy laws in the world right now.
