More an experiment than a game WIP, to explore NavAgents and NPC behavior in Godot. It’s based on the idea of the classic “Little Computer People” (C64, 1985) , the predecessor of the SIMs.
The chars get their animations from the furniture, easy mod-able to add new objects.
Next task is to add usable items.
It has day-night cycle, based on the sky shader by binbun. I have added a 2nd light source (the moon).
While Will Wright played Little Computer People, had Rich Gold give feedback on The Sims, and said it influenced The Sims, I personally think it’s a bit of a stretch to call a tech demo the predecessor of a full game.
Are you guys still exploring these ideas of fun ways to interact with LLM personality agents? I mean i know this game i grew up on C64, closest thing I could ask claude about was The Sims. This concept is going to take off big time open source making your own people since steam is nothing but Cozy Sandbox anyway. I just found out about Godot and find this project first ! Keep going !
That was just a small experiment. I wanted to know and test where to store the animation for the interactive objects. I’m using the logic in a different project. Maybe I’ll revisit this prototype at a later moment in time. Learned a lot with it.
There is no LLM used in the game, I’m exploring local LLMs the last days, maybe I’ll connect the NPCs with the LLM just as a test, since the latest models are multi modal (they can analyze images, like screenshots of the game). But that was not the target of this experiment.
TBH, I think just a social simulation of a shared apartment is a little bit boring, that’s why I have moved on to a more fun environment, with a similar NPC logic, but more thrill and story.
Back during covid when people drank a lot.. i spent 1000s of hours zoning out watching the little computer people play Oxygen Not Included for me.. And also back then all the lady gamers were obsessed with Animal Crossing
This last year I was smacked hard realizing “cozy sandbox” in games of stuff I thought was going to be good like factory automation or whatever.. like Soulmask games serve no purpose and no goals.. I dont like those games.. But.. now that you and me KNOW this AND the 2030s will be ALL about LLMS…
You didnt discover this concept.. you just happened to be FINALLY the first person I have found that pushed it beyond SillyTavern. Tonight also I found on youtube people injecting a LOT of older games like Half Life, Sims, GTA 4 5, Garrys Mod, RimWorld, Mount & Blade where ALL the npcs were possessed by LLMs .. they have a modding site dedicated to that stuff at https://player2.game/ buy that might be pay for use but you see titles kinda like how people modded on nexus games.. right.. Also on youtube if you search the buzzword Lambda Players the silly voices the AI players use to Taunt the player is just crazy.. Its like an alternate reality.
Anyway.. I just want to thank you SO much for your concept it is EXACTLY what I needed to see.. I dont want to play a game.. I would rather eventually get into Unreal Engine Metahumans.. But something like this I know I can create characters with ComfyUI and bring them more to life than a simple chatbot when asking them to research or organize my files.. I hope you re-explore this because THAT is exactly will be popular in 2030. Cozy.
ps oh i also forgot. The trend among young adults.. Remember the Gen Z Stare thing where people said they didnt want to deal with customers.. They “date” Ai Companions these days.. even probably more common among teens like you remember reports of chatgpt giving people bad advice right? Anyway.. I dont want to deal with people either.. Remember how morbid people were reacting to Stan Lee Comicon thing when they used MetaHuman for him ? Thats human curiousity.. and they doing the same with Ozzy.. And they had ABBA Hologram concert with metahuman…
Once people start realizing they can do the what if game.. bringing loved ones back or seeing what they could look like with past relationships.. MetaHumans WILL replace desire for human contact.
