Released my first game!

@pdhales72 @_Stephen thanks for playing, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on the itch pages too. I’ll hit you with a follow back next time I log on!

My brother had a hard time with the movement at first too. Did either of you happen to click the “controls” button before you played? I really like my moving camera but I do feel it creates a visibility issue for new mobs on the top and bottom of the screen. Maybe a 1x1 window would be better? Any thoughts on that?

I didn’t, but should have. Most the initial control issues were entirely my fault  After I checked that screen, everything made sense!

I did click the controls button. Whether I read them is another thing.

I could control the ship well enough but was a bit confused by the direction the ship was facing…still enjoyed the game.

Ahh, well if I ever dabble in doing art for a marketed I’m a better design could help. Maybe a crosshair too instead of the mouse. Thanks dude!!!

I forget to mention - I had no issue with the camera. I thought it was fun.

Great work and congrats.

Two little things:

  1. Be able to use arrow keys instead of or in addition to WASD.
  2. Maximize.

This is for the HTML version, btw.

Hey All,

It’s been about 1 week since I uploaded Starscourge and I’ve received a ton of helpful notes and feedback from folks on Itch and the Godot forum. I spent a bit of time crossing items off that list and have uploaded new versions AND moved the HTML version over so now there is one page for both version (Thanks @Antimundo)

Changes:

Pause Menu: “esc” key - Unfortunately, this takes you out of full screen in the HTML version. I may change the button in the future or create another toggle that can be used in game. Had a fun bug while testing that would lead to unpausing the level up menu but the UI would stay on screen, thank god for if, elif, and else!

EXP Gems and Gains: I’ve changed rates for larger exp gems as well as reduced the amount of exp provided. The goal was to stop multiple levels from being given off the hop or after the first few enemies. it should be much less likely. EXP required to level has been reduced across the board to account for these reductions.

Full screen and Volume UI: This ones for you @larasqp! I’ve added a toggle for FS and a slider for master audio bus in the top right. Perhaps in the future I’ll separate music and sfx into different sliders and have a menu for these options.

Seriously, thanks for taking time to play my game, it’s been such a great experience going through this with you!

you might want to compress some files cause it is a long wait time on html. also now that progression has slowed down a little bit, i think you should decrease the health of the first guys you encounter

other than that the new update is pretty cool!
