Hey Godot community! ![]()
We’re building Rogue Isles, an open-world pirate MMORPG in Godot, and our public Browser Alpha launches tomorrow, 24 October!
We’re looking for our first players, honest testers and fellow developers who want to help shape the game from its earliest playable days.
An old-school adventure, out on the open sea
Our inspirations include RuneScape, Pirates of the Caribbean Online and Sea Dogs: meaningful skill progression, dangerous voyages, naval battles and a world worth exploring with other people.
We’re rebuilding and rethinking those ideas in Godot, bringing them together into our own multiplayer world, environments, characters and quests.
Create your captain, explore the islands, learn skills, fight enemies and work towards a better ship. We want your progress to come from playing, learning and overcoming challenges. There’s no buying your way to the top.
What’s playable in the Alpha?
The current build already includes:
-
Two large islands to explore.
-
Around 15 quests, with characters to meet and objectives to discover.
-
Multiple skills, items, equipment and character progression.
-
NPC enemies and bosses to challenge.
-
Player duels and a dedicated PvP area.
-
Upgradeable ships and naval combat.
-
Online multiplayer in the browser, playable on desktop and mobile.
The visual style is still basic, and plenty of systems need polish. This is an early Alpha: expect rough edges, bugs and things that need balancing. But there’s already a playable multiplayer foundation, and we’re ready to put it in players’ hands.
Where we want to take it
Our long-term goal is a premium, stylised 3D experience on mobile and desktop—combining the character of low-poly art with richer environments, more detailed models, better animation and atmospheric effects.
At the same time, we want the Browser Alpha to retain a lighter, old-school look and feel, with accessible play and the sense of discovery that made classic online RPGs memorable.
Our wider vision includes clans, island ownership, player trading, treasure hunts and a deeper player economy, alongside a developing play-to-earn ecosystem. For this Alpha, our focus is the game itself: making exploration, progression and playing together enjoyable.
Treasure hunts & play-to-earn
We’re also developing P2E treasure hunts, with the goal of rewarding players for exploring the world, solving clues and completing challenges together. These are planned additions to the wider Rogue Isles economy; the first Alpha focuses on testing and improving the core multiplayer adventure.
First 100 adventurers: something that won’t return
The first 100 players to join and complete the Alpha quests will receive limited rare items reserved for this first crew.
These particular launch items will never be reissued. They’re our way of recognising the people who helped explore and test Rogue Isles at the beginning.
Help us test the waters
We’d love feedback on:
-
Whether the opening quests make sense and help you find your feet.
-
Combat, skill progression and the pace of the game.
-
Sailing, ship upgrades and naval encounters.
-
Multiplayer bugs, connection problems and unexpected behaviour.
-
Browser performance and controls, especially on mobile.
Tell us where you got lost, what felt satisfying and what made you want to stop playing. That feedback will help us decide what to improve next.
We’re also looking for collaborators — revenue share
We’re looking for Godot developers, game designers and artists interested in helping take an existing playable project further.
These are revenue-share collaboration opportunities, rather than salaried positions. Scope, responsibilities and revenue-share terms would be discussed and agreed upfront.
We’re looking for people who can bring their own judgement, craft and experience to turn that foundation into a polished game.
