Running Godot with standalone configuration

Godot Version

4.7.2 Mac OS 27.0

Question

I am trying to run an standalone version of Godot configured to use an external editor while keeping the original running with the internal editor.
I tried several options like creating a file ._sc_ or godot.selfcontained and none of this worked.
In every try every Godot version change the editor as a global configuration.
Does anyone could make it work?

Can you explain what happens when you create an _sc_ file? I just tested it and it worked fine.

For macos you need to create it inside MacOS/Contents in the .app file as explained in the documentation:

Hi @mrcdk . I did that, I created a file ._sc_ inside the app folder as described. I change the external editor, but other version of the Godot will still using the same configuration.
I read that referenced page but, sid this way of configuring worked for you?

I created a ._sc_ file as described. I change the external editor and it works. But if I run other Godot version, that version will be using the external editor too instead of the internal.

@tibaverus , @mrcdk Thank your for taking time reading and answering to my issue. I found out I created a folder, not a file so I fixed that and now is working.
