Bro do not post you age her, your post may get flagged.

From just the pics I think the UI is a bit dark.

The backround is cool, but i dont like the look of the character.
ps: dit you made all the art alone?

Nice start, well done !
It is quite dark, as SpaghettiCoder said, I think you should put highlights on things like ground, interactable things, etc.
But keep going, it looks promising.

hi all, thank you so much for your feedback. Yes, all the art is my own, I would be happy to share more details about my art process/ engine (krita).
You are completely right SpaghettiCoder, the character is definitely not good enough - it was the very first thing I animated as a beginner artist.

Due to graphics appearing dark (they are a bit dark!) I added a brightness slider in game accessible by pressing ‘esc’ and then moving the slider to satisfaction

Thx for the heads up on itch SpaghettiCoder, a new update was uploading so the game temporarily disappeared

ohhh… So i can play it now and give more fedback.

I think I played through it, so here is my review:

  1. The itch.io page does not look good (It is the first thing potential players see),
I highly recommend to improve it.
  2. The UI is too dark (I can barely even see my HP)
  3. The gameplay Is okay (there is no goal to reach wich feels kinda… bad)
  4. The sound is absolutely perfect (the footsteps aren’t in sync with the walking
    animation)!
  5. The controls are not like in most platformers, the biggest problem here is you cannot
play with “WASD” wich some people are better used to.
  6. there is no background music.
  7. The VFX are insane especially when you are on 1HP!
  8. Story is small wich is for me a good thing one problem here is there is no goal to reach
    in the story/game
  9. The difficulty is good just the one jump after the second checkpoint is a bit too hard.

Thank you for your feedback - I really appreciate the help.
As I am new to itch.io, I would love any help on how to design a better page.
I am soon hoping to redesign UI, like the animations it was one of the first things I drew (stupidly)

For the controls, I was trying to mimic Hollow Knight, (a platformer which uses arrow keys), but I agree that strange controls never help with a new game!

Background music is still undergoing composition - before trying game devving I spent a lot of time on composition and I am familiar with creation of scores of multiple genres. I currently do not have access to my usual DAWs so I am waiting for another month before adding several soundtracks.

I am glad the VFX were liked and would be happy to share any code!

Story is still under development - the game is tiny currently. (Did you try pressing interact over the weird pink thing?)

Thank you once more for the help!

Ther are a toon of tutorials out ther and i would recomment to take a look at some of the famus itch,io pages out ther.

I think I dit it but nothing happened.
And another thing I noticed is my progress doesn’t get saved, which is not good for an metroivana.
I would not recommend to build a save system right into this project, because you are still new to godot and you may eventually break your game.
The better approach to learn more about game-dev is to make some small projects and join some game jams.

Thank you again - a save system is definitely something i’m too scared to try and implement!
If you have any advice on how to make one i’d be glad to hear it!

First befor you implement one learn about how to use git with github her:

Warning: This video i just an introtuction to git and github with godot and i recomment to reed or warch more stuff about git and github.

And i highly recomment to make some small projects or join game jams.
