I wrote above the forum has a history of hostility so to say and i experience this too, i want to know how the forum deals with this ( not just flag a post or two )
If you faced hostility, you should always report it or flag it so it gets removed, and the user in question suspended if appropriate.
However, I cannot see any hostility you faced based on your forum history.
Let me go into details why i think it is hostile and no, i am not happy about every answer, as the now deleted approach suggest, some are just not leading the topic forward but disruptive :
Quote: âNobody on this forum produced an AAA game. Youâre asking at a wrong place.â
It feels hostile because the reply doesnât engage with the questionâit engages with the questionerâs right to ask. By stating âNobody here did Xâ and immediately concluding âYouâre asking at a wrong place,â the message reduces to: You donât belong here, and your question isnât welcome. There is zero attempt to inform, redirect, or help. Thatâs not bluntness; itâs gatekeeping, and itâs precisely the type of reply the Godot leadership has labeled toxic and unacceptable. The hostility isnât in the words themselves but in the function: it builds a wall where the community has chosen to leave a door.
So Iâll make a final clarification, if you experience treatment that isnât appropriate you should:
- Communicate this with the person in question, or
- Report the comment, or
- Reach out to moderators
Or all of the above
Iâd suggest that this thread be closed as it is not productive, making a thread calling out behaviors is not the proper way to deal with this situation, and continues to assume ill intent even with clarifications from others, actively ignoring it
You can read it, i edited it lets see what happens then.
Please do not edit comments that are under evaluation to make them visible, thatâs inappropriateâŚ
I wrote above this thread is not only about the flagging , want to know how the community deals with hostility, to make you more happy i will edit the original post so you dont need to suggest to close my very valid topic again!
The system clearly sais you should edit it to make it visible again
To fix the violation yes, not just make the flag go away
If rephrased to âitâs safe to assume that nobody âŚ,â however, it would have sounded just kind.
I will refrain from responding further other than to say: it is easy to confuse tough love with unkindness.
I remember you. Your first post obviously used an LLM to format it, and it got flagged. You were upset by this fact. You then made a very similar topic to this one: The forum feels unwelcoming
So you have felt this way since you joined last year. It seems to me that you have never let that go, and view everything through the lens of everyone is being unfriendly. I specifically replied to you in your post and tried to hear what your problem was. I also engaged with your initial post and I believe recommended you bring your idea to: GitHub - godotengine/godot-proposals: Godot Improvement Proposals (GIPs) ¡ GitHub
I could not find this sentence in the thread referenced. But regardless, you seem really angry and this post, and this thread is not a proportional response to one reply. It appears like venting, and at this point almost looks like trolling.
However I feel like it is also possible that there is a communication issue. You are reading and replying through an LLM, according to your posts last year. I believe that you are assuming nuance to posts that is not there. Whatever translation is being done is causing problems. And you are very hurt and angry over that.
No one else is responsible for your emotions but you.
There are community groups all over the world speaking many other languages.
I do not know what your native language is, but I think it might help if you found one of those groups where you could speak your native language.
To be clear, Iâm not saying you should leave here. What Iâm saying is that having people who are interested in Godot who speak your native language might help. Because some of them might understand English and be able to help you translate intent more clearly.
As a community we have been kind to you. I can see it in previous posts. It seems to me you made an entire post about elitism and gatekeeping based on one reply.
P.S. Whoever said no one on this forum has made a AAA game was wrong. There are at least three people on this forum that I know of - including myself - who have worked on shipped AAA games. But as far as I know, none of them used Godot.
For context the comment is Can Godot handle AAA fidelity in 2026 and future? - #8 by normalized
Bahahaha. Of course it was @normalized. That wasnât even in the top ten of mean replies by @normalized.
Ultimately communicating through text, especially through language barriers, and tripply so when using an LLM to filter it, leads to a lot of communication mishaps, crossed wires, and misunderstanding
The way to resolve that is to communicate, and when that is not practical, to use moderation to help
If you feel that some conversation has been inappropriate, or upsetting, or offensive, please resolve that by communicating that, and if you donât feel comfortable or safe doing so directly (which is 100% valid!) reach out to moderation, either by flagging things directly or by other communication channels
And I donât find those comments rude or unwelcoming, but thatâs my perspective, and the things you feel are the things you feel, no one else can decide on those, but in any community people need to work together and recognize one another and what others intend
This is a very welcoming community, in fact it is the single best community Iâve ever been in online and Iâve been in quite a few (this includes the general Godot community elsewhere, not to be too critical of those other spaces, but this is especially friendly and caring)
Friction is always a thing in communication, but the way to solve that is more communication
(Also, to be clear, Juan is not the head of Godot, and while the points raised are, when relevant, CoC violations, Juan does not set Godot policy, nor does he dictate the Code of Conduct, nor the policies of this forum, so it doesnât help to invoke posts by him)
It was clearly explained to you that the point is not to make you leave, quite the opposite.
But as others have pointed out, especially regulars here, we do not see any of the hostility that you mention, or all the unfriendly and gatekeeping behaviour. And itâs not because weâre ignorant of it or we push it aside, we literally do not see anyone being hostile or unfriendly towards new users.
If this was a big issue, many people wouldâve already voiced their concerns.
And btw i think some people flag content because they dislike the poster ( abuse of the mechanism ) an other point why is really annoying.
That happens, but thatâs hardly relevant to this thread though
Resentment is caused when our expectations of other people are not met. Unfortunately, you cannot control what other people do - even moderators. Our moderation staff is overworked. And you apparently believe that you deserve special attention.
We cannot change your perception of what you are owed. So it does not sound like there is a resolution to your problem.
It does in a way, i think like the deleting ai content ( some people really use it normally in messages and get excluded that way )
just random flagging normal content shows people they are not welcome, it belongs to the gatekeeping from the original posting
One should be able if not to control them but to hold them to account to act in accordance with the guidelines of the project and the guidelines should be fair, a moderator should not arbitrarily delete stuff either even if they think they follow an own unwritten policy.
Everyone with concerns should get attention for them disagree with that?
