The game is fully playable but still a wip as I’m trying to develop it a bit further. I’d appreciate any constructive feedback, be it comments or suggestions. I’m looking to extend the game mechanics to allow for more variety and add some more polish.
Here’s the blurb and some visuals:
Are you a recluse? Or a vampire? Or just a regular introvert? This game is for you.
You’re trapped within The Facility, a realm of perpetual blinding sunset. With a fatal sensitivity to light, the sun’s glow is a slow-motion execution. Your only objective is a full blackout. But in the calming darkness of the shadows lurk the Remnants, shadow-creatures who see the light as salvation. Engage in a tense game of hide-and-seek in this action/puzzler, where you must strategically use the light against them, all while desperately shielding yourself from its deadly toll. You will quickly cultivate a love-hate relationship with sunlight.
btw,any way to fix that virus detecting thing? it’s soo much odd.
also sorry man ,I can’t play it cuz my gpu doesn’t support valkun : (
but it’s soo cool
I don’t know why it happens. It’s just a regular export from Godot into exe and pck, zipped into a file. It’s quite annoying but windows defender seems to have decided to issue this irrational false positive. Strangely enough it’s not even consistent. Some people don’t get it even with defender realtime protection enabled.
Nope, no volumetric fog. It’s too unwieldy for this. I simply render projected light prisms. It’s not physically accurate but good enough for the purpose it serves. It’s not only an effect but in fact a gameplay element as the player need to be aware of the space that is hit by light.
Really cool idea, I love it! The atmosphere is amazing, and the game kind of reminds me of 4D games where you can only see objects if you change your perspective (4D Miner as an example)
I also have a suggestion: Make the player use lights from another room to reveal remnants in a room. For example, you can have a room with no windows but a remnant inside, and in order for the player to see the remnant they need to open a door from another room to allow the light to go inside the room with the remnant.
All in all, this is a really fun game that I enjoyed playing, and I really hope it does good in the game jam!
Thank you! Glad you like it.
That’s an excellent suggestion regarding door opening. The player can actually do that already; open some doors to let the light from other rooms in, but the map generator currently guarantees that every room has at least some windows. Making this tactic more prominent by having more darker rooms is a great idea.
I’ve updated the main enemy in the game to something more interesting. More details in a devlog on itch: No more Karen remnants
They are now fully 3d, animated and look something like this, although never fully exposed in the game until they kill you.
