Some confusion on Android AD_ID permission warning

Godot Version

4.5.2

Question

I am building my second published Android app, this one supported by ads; so I’m only vaguely familiar with AdMob and may have messed something up.

I just passed my fifth alpha release. Android is giving me three warnings, two being the usual harmless ones about not having deobfuscation data (which I don’t need), and one of which being that com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID is not declared, when I have an API implemented (AdMob) which uses it. Fair enough, should be easy to fix…

So, I added it manually to extra permissions in the export window, and uploaded that version. Inspection on Play Console shows that com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID is now declared on the new version, which is good. However… I am still getting that warning that it isn’t declared.

Is it about some old upload, or did I misunderstand something? The interstitial ads are showing up fine and the program is running properly.

How can I settle this warning from Google?

Update. Here’s the exact warning text:

Your advertising ID declaration says that your app uses advertising ID. A manifest file in one of your active artifacts doesn’t include the com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID permission.

If you don’t include this permission in your manifest file, your advertising identifier will be zeroed out. This may break your advertising and analytics use cases, and cause loss of revenue. Learn more

You turned off release blocking errors. Update your advertising ID declaration to turn these errors back on.

Interestingly enough the remaining two typical warnings are right beneath it, and are explicitly identified as being for the new version. I suspect that means I have something old clanking around which doesn’t support AD_ID, and that’s what’s causing the issue?

The issue may have been an artifact (really old version four) in Internal Testing. I just updated that and will report back if I’m sure it fixed the issue.
