Sprite2D Texture > Repeat repeats incorrect region

Question

If you add to a scene a Sprite2D with a texture and Edit Region to select a subset and then check Texture Repeat, the selected texture repeats but wraps to the start of the texture regardless of your selection. This may sound confusing but here is an example:

I have a texture of background walls. I want to repeat a subsection of the walls. As below marked in red.

However when I set it up with the Edit Region and resize the width to the right, the image wraps first around and then repeats. See attached:

Its now up to me to extract that image to its own texture and then make it repeat. That would mean making a lot of textures for different parts of the wall.

Any suggestions how to do this better? Ami I missing something? Thanks
