Squash the Creeps, cant convert to 4.3.

Godot Version

4.3

Question

So I try to import the squash_the_creeps, and I click Import & Edit, followed by convert the full project, and confirm that with OK in the next pop-up. But then, in my projects, it shows up as still version 3.x.

I go into it anyway, make a few scenes as per the guide, and I can’t save anything. I guess because the project is 3.x and I’m using 4.3. I can’t even create a script; I get an error saying “Error: Could not create script in filesystem.”

There is already a native 4.x version of Squash the Creeps (3D) available here: godot-demo-projects/3d/squash_the_creeps at master · godotengine/godot-demo-projects · GitHub

Great, thanks for this. Don’t suppose you happen to know why I was getting the problems that I had? The guide made it seem like a formality, that it would convert seamlessly.

Well, the last time this project was updated for the official documentation was in 3.3 beta !!! and the first time it was added for 3.4.

Oh I see, I figured it would work as it is called "Godot Engine 4.3 documentation in English " and explicitly says “This page is up to date for Godot 4.3.”

Yes, we have an issue and a PR but as you can see, they are still open after 5 months.

That’s not my PR

Oh, yes, it’s from linking it…

So the conclusion is there’s no current unfinished project for users to download and attempt?

For 4.2 and 4.3 it is here: Godot-Assets/Projects/Starters at main · mkh-user/Godot-Assets · GitHub

Perfect, thanks!
