I am looking for reviews of the Godot Shaders Bible.
Have you read it? How do you like it? The Price is a bit high for me to buy it blindly.

It would be helpful to provide a link.
I think it’s https://jettelly.com/store/the-godot-shaders-bible and I’ve also thought about it but worry about the price to value.
Too bad the free sample requires you to sign up for the newsletter. ![]()
Which I did
maybe I could review the free sample
Yes do that…! I have no idea about shaders.
I hate when they do that… I’ll get a trash mail address but I have no clue about shaders. The sample might be gibberish to me.
I grabbed the free version, and I’d say it’s worth trying out. The free version is 349 pages and appears to cover the first 4 chapters of the book.
A brief perusal of the book reveals that it seems to be very technical, but it also appears to explain everything quite well. There are some weird font issues in the PDF, but everything seems readable.
I’d recommend grabbing the free version and then unsubscribing. I noticed that the PDF download link they sent went into GMail’s Promotions tab.
There are a ton of links to documentation, screenshots and diagrams. It looks pretty professional other than the rendering issues.
I’ll probably read through it at some point, and if I do I’ll try to put up a more thorough review.
Do we need a bible?
We have a living, breathing prophet in @FencerDevLog.
hahaha… I bought his Zero to Game book and can really recommend it. Once I am done with it I plan to write a review.
I am not so fond of the religious analogy though. So… I see the video courses or tutorials as the ![]()
At this point, having the word “bible” in a programming book title is not really a religious reference (to the actual bible). There’s a long history of naming thick, comprehensive technical books - “bibles [of some topic]”. It’s kind of a trope that signifies that the author’s intentions were to go deep and wide into the topic.
Just search “programming bible” on any large online book store and you’ll see what I mean. It leaked into other fields as well, for example a drawing book called “Dynamic Bible”. There’s also a fair amount of “superbibles” ![]()
In the above example in may actually be religious, if you know what I mean ![]()
I hate people using fear to sell educational books.
FOMO is one of the standard sales tactics, but ai bros are bringing it up a couple notches - using existential dread ![]()
