Character collider too high for IK legs

Question

So I’ve just started implementing an IK skeleton for my already existing characterbody2d and have already come across an unforseen issue.
The character collider is too high for the legs to bend down to slopes for example nonetheless stairs or any kind of elevation, right now I have it working but only on level ground.
How can I bypass this issue? Image added for clarity.
