Custimity — online arena where you bet gold on other players' duels (Steam)

Custimity is an online 3D arena made with Godot 4.

Six players, one match, about 40 minutes. Two get pulled into a 1v1. Everyone else bets gold on a winner. Guess right, you get richer. Guess wrong, that gold is gone from your shop.

Between fights you farm waves on your own arena, pick and swap skills, buy items and fuse them. Then you take that build into the next round — creeps or a duel.

Closest reference: Custom Hero Survival (Dota custom) + betting on duels.

Steam:

Godot 4.6+, GDScript, dedicated server.

It’s hard to tell if I like the game, even thoh it looks interesting.
I am not a fan of the grapics… idk why.

I think they look, a bit cheap mobile game like, there’s something plastic feeling about the portraits in particular I think

The graphics in the game aren’t perfect, but I did the best I could on my own budget.
Thanks for the feedback anyway : )

Thanks for the feedback and your opinion.
I’ll keep working on the portraits then :handshake:

Good luck with your project!

IMO, the portraits aren’t the most bang for your buck since they aren’t the core of the game. The reason it looks like a mobile game is probably the simple shadows (mobile games usually use basic rendering). Maybe add more shadows, fog, contrast to the scene.

Hmm. That’s quite possible.
I’m thinking about how to improve the shadows and post-effects.
Thanks : )

I disagree with those who dislike the graphics - I love them, particularly in this screenshot:
I think that the only slightly out of place asset would be the tree in the top left - it looks a bit strange but I can’t tell why (i only do 2D for a reason!)

Thank you so much.
Maybe I really should find a better piece of wood :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

lol its more the leaves on the bit close to the camera at the left. the wood itself looks great. DId you use blender?

Oh, I see
I actually bought this tree on a stock website.
And for the characters, I hired a freelancer who, yes, works in Blender.

oh ok. I was thinking I wanted to try making a 3D open world game. Can you tell me a bit about the workflow for your game?

I don’t have an open world.
I have 7 locations: the spawn point and 6 arenas.
I use the terrain3d add-on.
This add-on is also great for open worlds—it has a ton of features. I highly recommend it :handshake:

This reminds me of that one Smash Ultimate mode where you literally bet on the outcome to online fights

A number of games feature a similar mode. I decided to create a full-fledged game based on this idea :100:

I think it looks pretty great. Sounds like a fun idea!

One small change which may make some of the UI elements look a little more polished would be if you rounded some of the corners or made them fade out slightly at the border

Thank you very much
I’ve actually been thinking about rounding the UI as well
Thanks for confirming my suspicions :handshake:
