FLARE β A Local Launcher for Portable Apps and Games
Hi everyone! ![]()
Iβd like to share FLARE (Folder-based Local Application & Resource Executor), a free Windows launcher I developed using Godot 4.7.2 and GDScript.
What is FLARE?
FLARE is a simple, folder-based launcher designed to help you organize and launch portable applications and games from a single interface.
The goal is to make portable programs easier to access without relying on an internet connection.
Features
-
Folder-based organization: Each application or game has its own folder. -
Apps and games: Organize your portable executables in one place. -
Custom images: Add an image to each application entry. -
Offline operation: The launcher works locally without requiring an internet connection. -
Simple setup: Organize your programs using a straightforward folder structure.
How does it work?
FLARE scans subfolders inside the Apps/ directory. Each application folder contains an executable named APP.exe and an optional-looking image file named img.png as required by the current setup.
Example:
FLARE/
βββ FLARE.exe
βββ Apps/
βββ MyApp/
β βββ APP.exe
β βββ img.png
βββ MyGame/
βββ APP.exe
βββ img.png
